Now, I'm don't know from what brand*mcafee, norton...) should I buy the protection from (including anti virus, firewall, spyware and blah blah blah.) Open Question: Ahhh! I've accidentally removed my sound mixer!!!! Help?

Alright, maybe it wasn't accidental, maybe I was just curious and stupid, which prompted me to uninstall SoundMax, by doing so, my sound is now gone. When I tried to reinstall, seems like I need some software, which I do not have because it was downloaded by a computer maintenance guy who fixed my computer before. What can I do? It seems the "Mixer" is missing and I have to reinstall, is there an ISO or some replacement I can use? Open Question: FFXI graphics are messed up...?

I have installed both Warhammer online and FFXI on my Toshiba Satellite model A305-S6858 which has Vista on it. Warhammer looks fine however FFXI isn't looking correct with mostly the characters and mobs in the game. They flicker and appear to only show some of the colors or all the colors and parts of the character or mob are missing. I'm not sure what settings I need to change if I can to make this work correctly. I have installed the newest DirectX and video drivers and still not working properly and this is even after I reinstalled the OS. Which I did for other reason. I am probably giving more info than needed or maybe not enough.. However if someone can direct me the direction needed to get this solved I would be most greatful! Thanks ahead of time! I need to download a driver for my dell photo 964 printer. However, when I go to the dell support site and enter my service tag number, a few come up. CD/DVD, Commmunication, and video. there are a couple for each one too. I do not know which one Im suppose to download so that I can use my printer again. Open Question: Why do 300 megs on HDD appear as 3 gigs on DVD burning software?

So my friends and I did a series of short films for a class and we edited them on his computer. He gave me the DVD he made of them so I could rip the files to my hard drive, each of which are about 300 megs. Since I only have one optical drive I am now trying to burn these 6 files back to a blank DVD, but as soon as I only add one of them to the que it comes up as nearly 3 gigs of the 4.7 limit, which would force me to make one DVD per short film, which is obviously not what I want. This is a new computer for me, first time burning DVDs on it. I finally upgraded to a nicer desktop from a 5 year old laptop, but I never had these kinds of problem when burning DVDs on the laptop. I've tried several different burning programs off of CNET along with the basic stuff the PC came with. Is this some kind of base-2 vs. base-10 issue? Thoughts? more

I have acer aspire 5920 core 2 duo, 2 gb ram, 160 gb hdd, 1.83 ghz processor, 667 mhz motherboard laptop, 8x dvd rom drive. 1.I have seen this problem in about all the laptop holders whom i know that after installation of xp, about some days i.e 15 -20 or 30 days, a problems present in the system. While copying the cd or dvd and at the same time playing audio or video in any player, this audio and video constantly very badly plays with stoppage at each fraction of second,stopping and starting. If this problem is faced the speed of dvd or cd writing or copying is also decreased by half a rate. I know this is a software problem. Please solve this because this is faced by 10 users and my friends. My DMA is enable. 2. When i run a program in c using <graphics.h> i am unable to see about 30 characters like digits from 0 to 9, space and many more on the output screen. I see a bad illegal not cleared symbol. Open Question: Bought printer/scanner at WalMart, can i bring it back?

I had bought a printer/scanner at walmart a few days ago, and i hate to admit it but i had every intention to bring it back after just using the scanner. There is nothing wrong with it, i just needed a scanner for a one time use to do something online and was hoping maybe i could bring it back and get my money back. I have used it only like 3 times to print and once to scan, that's it. I did install the software cd.. and the ink cartridges also There's no damage to it, i still have the packaging and everything that came with it. The reason why im asking this question is because i know you can't take any CD's, DVD's, computer software or games back to walmart, even if something was wrong with them. note: this was AFTER i uninstalled the sims 2 and used the serom remoal tool i am trying to copy my home videos to a blank dvd. copy, not burn. but my cd drive tends to act up. most of the time it refuses to eject my cd, any 3rd party cd ejecting software i use freezes up so im forced to restart. i tried erasing the data off my dvd+r it wasnt burnt on data, and now it erases the files but does not give me the space back, it shows 900 mb free of 4.7 gb. it is a tdk brand. i know it may be possible im either using a crappy brand, the wrong type or cd is scratched up. i have a scratched up memorex dvd+rw and a non scratched tdk dvd+r and that tdk dvd was notorious for being slow in the first place, but please take into consideration my computer did fail to boot after installing the sims 2, something wrong with the BCD, so i needed to borrow a recovery cd. and no i cannot see a professional, i dont have the money. so i advise against getting sims 2, ,the g0ats3 game (aka bioshock) and gta 4 for pc. i am hearing sims 3 will not have securom and even if that is true i bet they will have a hard time selling cause of its punishing system requirementsi reposted the question cause there was a network glitch more

Well... as you can see by the super-long title, i have brought a new PC, with 4TB harddrive space ( 4 1TB's ), 8 cores ( 2 4 core CPU's ), 4 gbraphics cards all linked up, and 32gb of RAM ( 8x 4gb ) Now this has a Blu-Ray/HD Drive and a normal DVD/CD-Drive. It has plugs in the back of it to put the signal through the TV with the AV cords ( thats why the graphics cards are linked up, and the 4th has all the plugs in it ) it also has the plugs for the aerial-in and aerial-out cords... Now what i was wondering, Is there a program, that will stay on, that will archive all the movies for me, and when i click it, it will come up with an option "Do you want to play now? y/n" and it will play it from the start with the menu';s and all that, so you can use the remote that came with the PC. Ive got my own folder of dvd folder on my HDD, its approx 7.5GB. Therefore i need a dual layer dvd disc. I tried burning the folder using nero, and another burning software. It recognises dvd9 disc, and burns 100% successfully (so it says!). However when i play the dvd disc on my dvd player, it works perfectly fine up until halfway, which i assume where the second layer starts.
