Resolved Question: Why is it that some Americans claim to be "unable" to ship overseas at a given time?

I'm European and shopping online, I get this excuse a lot - as much from individuals as well as businesses. What exactly is it that makes Americans unable to ship items internationally? In my country it really is no different from shipping items domestically. It puzzles me greatly. Is there something complicated about the US postal system regarding international post or what? I have never come across this problem with sellers from any other country in the world. Or is it to do with some strange phobias Americans have about foreigners or what? I have excellent refs and all, so there should not be any problem. I don't get it.Thanks for the answers, but I'd like to know, WHAT is the inconvinience there? Resolved Question: Royal Mail-USPS Claims Process--- Please help please!!?

I sent an international package via International Signed for Airmail (value at 350 pounds) from UK to the US, and now almost 30 working days later, it still has not showed up and the USPS tracking still reflects that it is stuck at the Boston Mail Facility :( since the 24th of April....so I am guessing it is lost/stolen by USPS. I have filed a claim with Royal Mail, sent in documents etc. but the Customer Service let me know that it would take a minimum of 8 weeks to even confirm or open my claim and a formal investigation....0.0 By that time USPS would be auctioning my lost package! I am so frantic and don'/t know what to do, and not sure if Royal Mail will pay off my claim or pretend to have lost my form or something... :( Is there any other thing I can do? Eg. call a more helpful office, file a legal suit (how do I do this), any other postal authorities? I have called USPS but they state that all international package lost claims have to start from the sender's mail place (UK) and they refuse to start an investigation without Royal Mail's approval.
